So at the beginning of the year I wrote about 17 Things I’m Looking Forward to in 2017 while I’ve seen and read a lot of those things I wanted to add a couple of more that I hadn’t heard about at that point. Books and movies below! As well as two movies that I’m surprised I’m looking forward to!
Atomic Blonde (July 28th) Trailer looks good. I love Charlize when she’s kicking butt Furiousa style and there’s an added helping of James McAvoy!
The Beguiled (June 23rd)

I knew nothing about Sofia Coppola’s new film until the trailer dropped but the cast is awesome. I’ve been into Colin Farrell since Fantastic Beasts. I mean this does feel more like a fall movie but I’m totally dragging someone to see it!
The Defenders (Netflix August 18th)
This was always something I was going to check out but I’ve been really bad with television this year. I haven’t been able to get into most things or even bothered in some cases but I liked the back and forth in the trailer. There’s a flash of Elektra and then there was…
Sigourney Weaver! I was suddenly ten times more excited! I mean she’s got to be the big bad right? Who are they going to get that would top her? (I’m not spoiling myself for this one so if you know, please don’t tell me!)

Ryan Graudin is the author of the Wolf by Wolf books. This synopsis is a little hard to break down but apparently there’s a time-traveling gladiator and a girl he meets during a heist on the Titanic. I’m in!!!

A companion book to Vengeance Road
I don’t want to know anything more than that! I want to be surprised! It also reminds me that I really need to buy a physical copy of Vengeance Road because that’s one of my favorite covers in ages and this is looking to be the same.
Two movies that I wasn’t the least bit excited about that I’ve changed my mind on and am hopeful for:
The Mummy (June 9th)
My original feelings upon seeing these trailers was, “No.” I like Sofia Boutella (who was in last years Star Trek) a lot and I was curious as hell about Russell Crowe since I’ve always liked him and he seemed to be doing nothing but narrating and stating the obvious.
Since I’ve learned who he’s playing however I’m a lot more intrigued (although I don’t know how much they’ll do with that in this particular movie). If only I could block out Cruise. Weirdly it’s not even like I hate Tom Cruise it’s just that aside from those two I can’t help but feel like this is going to be, “Tom Cruise action adventure extravaganza #15! We’re just changing out the younger women!”
Lastly when I first heard they were doing Baywatch that was another, “No. Don’t even think about it.”

But darn it a couple of the previews actually did make me laugh. It looks bright and summery (obviously.) Dwayne Johnson is always good. I actually like Zac Efron a lot in comedic roles and it looks like they might be giving Alexandra Daddario something to do besides the bathing suit.
I’m going to check it out and let’s just say I’m definitely more excited for this one than another Pirates movie!
