Daughter of the Pirate King
By: Tricia Levenseller
Alosa is the badass (she’ll totally tell you that) daughter of the pirate King who allows herself to be captured by an enemy ship in order to pull of a heist for her father. A Lady Jack Sparrow according to the cover blurb save for the fact I definitely don’t think we were supposed to find Jack Sparrow to be the greatest thing going.
Spoilers below for this one. Though I got to say the title of the sequel spoiled it for me so be careful looking that up!
Directed by: Christopher Nolan
Christopher Nolan is one of my favorite directors around so I had to see Dunkirk. It’s also not a story I’m very familiar with although I knew what it was about- the evacuation of British troops from Dunkirk as France falls to the Nazi’s. A lot of the evacuation tended to fall on civilian boats and people as the situation became more and more desperate.
Stranger Things Season 2 may very well be my favorite trailer out of comic-con. I love those kids. The use of Thriller was just awesome. I’m in love with the Halloween atmosphere. I mean I was super-psyched after the Super Bowl Tease. I just can’t decide whether I’m going to binge this one or try to spread it out and savor it when it finally drops.
I am so ready for Fall.
My number two would have to be:
Mockingbird Vol. 1: I Can Explain
Written By: Chelsea Cain
I had been interested in picking up Mockingbird for a while but put it on the back burner after the run was cancelled. It tells the story of Bobbi Morse whose given an untested serum in order to save her life. Another reason I back burnered this, to be honest, is I don’t follow Agents of Shield. Luckily you don’t really need to.
Author: Cora Carmack
In this world storms are actually living things and people like Aurora, the crown Princess, are relied upon to use magic to stop them. Unfortunately Aurora didn’t inherit the family magic so she needs to go about things a different way to save her people. What she really needed however was love interests with the ability to respect her personal space.
The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue
Author: Mackenzi Lee
“God bless the book people for their boundless knowledge absorbed from having words instead of friends…”
Monty is a bit of a rake whose getting one last chance not to embarrass his father when he goes on a tour of the Continent with his best friend Percy (who he’s in love with) and his younger sister Felicity. Absolutely nothing goes as planned and embarrassing his father becomes the least of his worries.
Directed by: Jon Watts
Spiderman Homecoming opens right after the events of the first Avengers movie and then jumps to Peter’s adventures during Civil War. Even though this is a Peter Parker movie through and through the Marvel Universe definitely looms large and I think is an added benefit and one of my favorite parts of the movie.
