The Joy of Christmas Tag

Kenny Irwin House Palm Springs

Or Hanukkah or Kwanzaa or Winter or whatever you celebrate including if you don’t celebrate anything! 🙂

I saw this tag on Sam’s Nonsense youtube channel and I’m really in the spirit for all things holiday right now. So here we go. The Joy of Christmas. Book Style!

Anticipation: The X-mas excitement is real! What releases are you most excited for?

There’s a bunch including…

My Plain Jane

But high on the list is Bright we Burn by Kiersten White. The final book in the story of Lada and Radu.

Christmas Songs and Carols: What book or author can you not help but sing the praises of?

I’m loving Kiersten White’s series (as mentioned) but also Erin Bowman, Laini Taylor, Julie Murphy and Courtney Summers are also authors I always enjoy that I think deserve more love.

Gingerbread Houses: What book or series has wonderful world building?

Without going with Potter or Westeros I’m gonna say…

the Grishaverse

The Grishaverse. I think we’re at five books and a book of fairy tales. It’s become completely immersive for me.

A Christmas Carol: Favorite Classic or one that you want to read:

A Tale of Two Cities

A Tale of Two Cities has always been a favorite along with Alice in Wonderland and Crime and Punishment.

Christmas Sweets: What book would you love to receive for Christmas?

Winds of Winter

Winds of Winter. I haven’t given up hope on getting this one at least but at this point I’ll take a release date. I’ll take a release quarter. Anything!

Candles in the Window: What book gives you warm fuzzy feelings?

I’m so bad at warm and fuzzies. More scenes, you know? Like every time Harry goes to the Burrow or when Kaz is talking to Inej at the end of Crooked Kingdom.

Christmas Trees and Decorations: Favorite book covers:

If I’m narrowing it down and I pretty much have to I’d say…

Vengeance Road

Vengeance Road has a great cover and I can’t forget:

Strange the Dreamer

Strange the Dreamer.

I also love the covers to The Bear and the Nightingale and the Harry Potter UK paperback editions which I think are the relatively new ones.

Christmas Joy: Favorite things about the holiday or this time of year:

I just love Winter over all. But I love this time of year. I love the lights- the world looks especially brighter. (Of course that could be because my neighborhood doesn’t even have street lights so the decorations help.) I love holiday music. I love burrowing down in a sweater. I love when it gets dark by five so you feel slightly less bad about putting on your PJ’s and grabbing a book for the rest of the night.

And I worked retail for a lot of years (although I stopped three years ago now) and it seems strange to say this but I always felt like people were in better moods. Or at least the good outweighed the extreme bad. 🙂
