Exciting Things in 2018

As 2018 is right around the corner I wanted to do a post on some of the books, movies and films I’m totally looking forward to in the coming year!

This list is not inclusive as things are obviously being added all the time…

2018 Books

There’s laundry lists of new releases coming but some of the ones I’m most looking forward to:

Bright We Burn by Kirstin White the conclusion of the series about Lada and her brother Radu. (July)

Contagion by Erin Bowman

I loved Vengeance Road and Retribution Rails so it will be interesting to see read what seems like a sci-fi thriller from the author. (July)

My Plain Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton and Jodi Meadows

A Jane Eyre retelling from the people that brought us My Lady Jane. So I’m hoping this one will have a lot more life than the recent Jane Eyre retelling I read. (June)

And something a little sooner coming out this January!

The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert

This is a dark fairy tale about a girl whose grandmother was known for writing a book of dark fairy tales. Two of my favorite Youtubers spoke highly of this book and it seems like a great January read.

Movie Wise

There’s a lot going on next year movie wise. At least for me. I’m most looking forward to:

Avengers Infinity War (May) How are they going to do this with all the characters? Is it going to be a mess? Well that trailer just nailed it. It’s hard to believe this is the point that they’ve been working toward since the first Iron-Man ten years ago. I’ve seen everyone of those movies I really do feel like this is the close of a book series. I’m expecting epic. So no pressure. 🙂

There’s also of course Black Panther (February)

Everything about this movie looks awesome and like it could be something different from previous Marvel films. Also the Avengers trailer probably spoiled any after credits scenes so I don’t have to stay!

Annihilation (also opens in February)

I liked the book a lot but if the trailer is any indication I could wind up liking the movie more.

Deadpool 2 comes out in June

Which they already nailed that teaser.

Wreck It Ralph 2 comes out in November & I’ve been excited since I heard some of the released footage at D23 a couple months back. This one is called Ralph Wrecks the Internet and I am kind of low-key obsessed with that as an “alive” sort of space.

Then there’s Aquaman in December

Somehow I’m still hopeful. Mainly that James Wan refuses to let any Warner Brother’s execs near the final cut. Hopefully he can do that!

X-Men: Dark Phoenix

I really want them to do justice to this one. I’m not sure if they will at this point but I am more hopeful after seeing the pictures in the recent Entertainment Weekly Hoping for the best but not entirely sure what I’m going to get with this one. It could still be super cool to finally see the story on the big screen.

TV Wise:

There’s not much for me television wise since I haven’t heard about a date for Stranger Things 3 and I really haven’t been keeping up with a lot otherwise.

(*FYI- I allude to a spoiler from The Walking Dead comics in this section. That can probably be figured it out so if you want to completely avoid please do so!)

Westworld Season 2 returns in the Spring which means I need to restart my HBO account. But the trailer makes it look totally worth it. Dolores is very, very (rightfully) angry!

There’s not much news about Good Omens the Amazon/BBC show based on the Gaiman/Pritchett Novel but if they didn’t have me anyway they would have with the casting of Michael Sheen and David Tennant.

Just to be completely salty (I admit it) I’m looking forward to seeing the end of all of war on The Walking Dead. If they actually end it any time soon and if there’s a big outcry if they go a particularly way with that one.

What can I say? I’m holding out mostly for Carol and Michonne and Michonne (in real life) is on to bigger and better things anyway.

Lastly on the tv front I know Jessica Jones season 2 is dropping this year (March 8 apparently!).

There’s more for books and movies especially and everything still to be announced. I’m hoping it will be a great year for entertainment and all around!
