Read Me in the Spring Time!

spring flowers

I’m not one for TBR’s of any kind but the last couple of weeks I’ve been in a very Spring mood and looking at some of the books I’ve been amassing there are a couple that just jump out at me, cover wise especially, like their singing, “I want to be read in the Spring!”

So below are some of the books I’m planning on reading and hopefully you can find some suggestions for good reads for the next couple of weeks!

song of a captive bird

This is historical fiction about a young female poet in 1950’s Iran. I’ve always been slightly obsessed with Iran through the years and I love books about the creation of art. The gorgeous cover and the flowers and the title just make it seem like a good one for Spring.

The Music Shop

Again, a bright cover and music! Music is always a winner. This one seems to be about a guy who can tell exactly what song someone needs at the time until one woman imparticular walks into his shop.

Wicked Like a Wildfire

Okay, gorgeous cover art aside I wasn’t sure about this book until I actually read the synopsis for the sequel which comes out this summer. Wicked Like a Wildfire is a magical realism (again a good thing for Spring) about two sisters who have to try to hide their gifts and not fall in love.

Yes, reading the synopsis for the sequel spoiled this one a little but still made me want to read it so that’s a plus.

Speaking of magic:

the rules of magic

All about Franny and Jet (the Aunts from Practical Magic) in New York in the sixties. Just look at that stardust like cover. I’ve been sitting on this one since Fall when it came in a Book of the Month box and I think Spring will be a great time to pick it up.

heart of iron

This one came in the most recent Owlcrate but the cover is so gorgeous I don’t think I can do it justice. Plus it has purple pages. Purple! A girl and her AI on a space quest. I’m actually reading this one next.

Crazy Rich Asians

All I’ve heard about this series is good things and how very funny it is. Right now I need some laughs and over-the-top families just seem like thats a nice Spring weather kind of deal. Also it’s getting a film adaptation!

Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine

Okay, I’ve only heard great things about Eleanor Oliphant as well. I’m not sure whether this is going to be a funny book but I think it’s going to be a quick and relatable (for me) kind of read that I’ve been putting off to long.

Gunslinger Girl

Apparently I am very into purple right now. I think if I have a Spring aesthetic to speak of (and I really don’t have any aesthetic) it would be purple and a cowgirl hat. This book is about a futuristic world where a sharp-shooter enters a big time competition. So on top of the pretty… fun!

Summing up my apparent thoughts on Spring… pretty colors, magic, AI’s, flowers, funny, music and poetry. Damn it now I want to make a mood board!
