My Movie Going Rules

leonard, howard and raj at star wars

A big part of me wants to talk Avengers Infinity Wars but I also think I need to give it a few more days to settle, give other people a chance to see it and maybe see it again. I enjoyed the film but I want to do spoilers so I’ll wait 🙂

I love to watch movies. I love to watch them on the big screen, But I do wish it could be like reading a book. Uninterrupted. Quiet. And with a pause so I can use the restroom and get food whenever I wanted. Since that’s impossible I’ve been known to try to control the experience where I can.

And here I would like to say how much I appreciate the friends and family that still go to see films with me!

I always get the aisle seat & that seat has to be in the center section of the theater.

I’m with Sheldon. The right spot is of the utmost experience and I’m not kidding but things happen when I don’t get the aisle. I get stepped on and tripped over no matter where my feet are. People spill things on me. And I know that guy who tried to sit on my saw me! He saw my friend on the aisle!

I also said, “Hey watch it!”

On the good side I’m always willing to go early, stand in line and secure that so it’s a trade-off for everyone.

No Talking During the Film

This seems obvious.

Sheldon Cooper
Sheldon always talks during films.

If You Violate the above by asking for spoilers and I know them…

I will tell you.

Acceptable During Previews:

Yes.

No.

Maybe.

Michael Fassbender needs a better agent.

They really are running out of ideas, aren’t they?

Questionable thing a Date Once Said during a Film:

“You remind me of her.”

Unfortunately, that film was Black Swan and I spent the rest of the movie wondering what the hell he meant by that…

I Never Eat During a Film

Anyone else can but this stems from the fact I nearly choked to death on popcorn and this woman behind me yelled at me to keep it down or go outside. (Okay, maybe it wasn’t to death. But it was scary and she was super mean.) So no food after the film starts.

Which actually saves me money so another benefit!

I don’t care how cute you are or how hard you flirt- you want to cut the line you better be Tom Hardy and even then I probably won’t fall for it.

I can’t believe that Infinity War is finally out and more amazingly we are days away from May. It’s nearly May! I hope everyone has a great weekend!

  1. Ha this is great. I like an aisle seat and like to be in the higher seats, although when I was younger (an obnoxious teen) we always sat in the lower seats *rolls eyes* No we weren’t really that bad. 🙂 Compared to SOME. It’s also amazing to me how some talk through a movie- I’m like shut up lol.

I can go without food but I much prefer to have some movie theater buttersalt, er I mean popcorn, with me. Even if it takes an entire paycheck to afford the concessions.

I’m seeing Infinity War tomorrow. Although I was spoiled on Twitter *modern day problems*

    1. I’ll usually grab a tin of popcorn on the way out. Movie theater butter is definitely a weakness! 🙂 Bummer about the spoilers I usually am too but I unfollowed anyone that even implied something or I thought might. At least until I saw the film! Debating whether I’m going to read the comic now or wait until next year…

      Hope you enjoy the film!

      1. Oh my gosh I saw it today and… mind blown. Even though I got sick of seeing thanos every 5 mins, but the rest… wow. Wanda! Bucky! And Mantis had the best line “We’re going to kick names and take ass.” I about lost it. 🙂

    1. Good to know it’s not just me 🙂 One guy insisted on talking to me during a movie! I try not to be rude but it’s like I don’t want to talk to my friend right now what on earth makes you think I want to chat with you? Jeez!

  2. I can not stand talkers at movies… and people eating and slurping really loudly. 😡😡😡

    Such a relatable post!.

I tend to get frightened quite easily and am known to scare people around me if something gets quite tense.. as my reaction is usually scarier than the actual movie scene.. 😂

I love the big screen but sometimes really prefer sticking to my home tv so I can stop thinking about people around me and scream in peace… ✌️😂

  3. Totally agree. I’m surprised they haven’t just taken to streaming new releases. Honestly, I’d pay the same price 🙂
I had a friend I used to go to the movies with anything scary or sad and he’d be like ,”Are you okay? Are you good?” Ugh! Same thing as talking during a movie but I couldn’t get mad at him!

  4. hehehe I have to sit in the middle of the cinema too- I’ll go early to secure the seat too 😉 And I *absolutely agree* about no talking in movies!! The black swan story really made me laugh 😂

  5. The middle of the theater is the best area! And at least we go and get seats and tickets- I never really feel bad about taking the aisle that way. Like you wanted it you could have been here to stand in line 🙂

  6. I don’t go to cinema often, but I’m quite a Sheldon unfortunately.
Usually go with my friend and she doesn’t mind… she’s quite vocal too, but she usually talks to the movie characters 😂 or makes awwwww sounds when the situation dictates. It’s super funny…

  7. That’s funny! Does she warn them and such cause I have to admit sometimes I’m doing that in my head. Honestly I think my friends are used to me by now- if I did give up the aisle seat they’d probably worry. 🙂

  8. I took my little brother to see Infinity wars and OMG I need to talk to someone about it but I don’t want to spoil it and Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!

I like to sit in the middle of the row and toward the back of the theater! I like being up high! I love the new theater set up where you pick your seats when you buy your tickets so you don’t have to get there super early.

I went to see Love, Simon a week ago and these two guys talked the WHOLE movie. I was so mad! It was awful! I don’t get how people don’t have the common courtesy not to talk. The only acceptable time to talk is to give someone a recap when they ran to the bathroom. Speaking of which, it does suck that you can’t pause movies haha. My brother had to go soooo bad and couldn’t hold it so he ran to the bathroom and came back and it turned out there was only like 3 minutes left of the movie. If he would have known he would have held it!

  9. I know the feeling about Infinity Wars I’m watching Youtube videos like crazy because my friend still hasn’t seen it! But I’m writing about it cause I can’t take it anymore 🙂
The bathroom thing is always the worst times- I waited and waited through the last Hunger Games thinking I could make it and wound up missing the big emotional moment! Same with that movie The Arrival I had read you can’t miss the ending so I waited and at the ending it was like, “That was it? Get out of my way!” 🙂

  10. I had one of the best dates ever thanks to Black Swan (which I recognize was well made but I personally hated). Also I agree with all your rules but I like to sit in the middle, middle. I just make sure I piss right before the movie so I don’t have to get up. Also with reserved seating there’s no stress anymore about getting the seat you want.

    1. Oh definitely! The only theatre by my house is reserved seating and it takes so much of the stress off. Though I’ve noticed people still having to be asked/told to move because they were in the wrong seat 🙂

      1. Yeah reserved seating has been around for 14 years now (I worked at the first reserved seating theater in the USA). If someone claims not to get how it works by this time, they are just dicks.
