Husband Disappeared? Go to Paris!

Paris By the Book

Paris By The Book

By: Liam Callanan

Grade: B

Every now and then when Robert Eady’s life gets to be too much for him he leaves a note for his wife and daughters and disappears for a “writing retreat” as he feels he can write better this way.

One day there’s no note and Robert Eady never returns leaving his wife to wonder whether he walked out for good or whether he’s dead in a ditch somewhere. There’s credible evidence of an accident but also an unfinished manuscript about Paris and hidden tickets.

Thoughts on Solo

Solo: A Star Wars Story

Directed By: Ron Howard (mostly… )

Grade: C+

Well, despite my dislike of The Last Jedi and my deep belief that no one but Harrison Ford could play Han Solo I went and saw Solo and it definitely surprised me. I think the biggest surprise is that after all the talk about the Lawrence Kasdan (and his son Jake’s) script that was my biggest issue with the movie.

Signs You Need a Book Buying Ban

Harley loves her books

This could also be called: Attempting to Get My Shit Together this Summer! I don’t really believe in bans- at least not for myself- because the minute I’m banned from something I want it more than anything.

But I have been encouraged to think of things as more of a challenge. I mean below is just some of my May book haul. 🙂

If any of these signs you may need to go to book buying prison apply to you don’t take it personally because they all apply to me.

Unbury Carol

Which is one of the reasons I really wanted to read this book. Carol’s best hope is her one-time love an outlaw who left her years ago and one of the two people in the world who know about her condition.

Deadpool 2

Directed By: David Leitch

Grade: B (ish)

Wade Wilson (Deadpool) is the only thing standing between a killer from the future known as Cable (Josh Brolin) an a troubled teenage mutant. Will he grow a heart in time to save the kid? Will he be able to find the help he needs? Will he finally make a go of it with best friend Colossus?

Was this movie a little grosser than the first one?

Spring Favs and Recommendations

deer in annihilation

This is a bit of a Spring Favorites/Spring recommendations tag. I did a Winter one here and hoped to do it seasonally. So yeah for keeping up. I know technically there’s a bit of time left for Spring but honestly once we hit Memorial Day it’s summer (and I’m already looking forward to Fall.)

I’m combining books, film and television I’ve seen recently. The tag is originally by Zarriah Rose over on Youtube.

When You Realize You’re the Parent

The Way You Make Me Feel

By: Maurene Goo

Grade: B

Age wise anyway. 🙂

It was bound to happen eventually. And her parents were high-school age when they had Clara but still it actually explained a lot in the beginning of the book because I was like- why is this chick annoying me so much? Then we found out her parents were all of thirty-four. So she could be my kid.
