Always Team Dinosaur

Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom

I am Team Dino.

While viewing Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom there were several questions about the movie that ran through my mind and they lead to several life questions until I found myself pondering the meaning of, well, I’d like to say existence but definitely not that meaningful.

Bryce Dallas Howard

More along the lines of if I go back to dying my hair can I find someone who can nail this color?

Why do so many people outrun this T-Rex?

Okay, the good guys manage to outrun him the bad guys just freeze until it’s too late. Does the T-Rex somehow distinguish between good and evil? Can we really say that people are purely good or evil? Can a T-Rex?

I mean honestly he may be the laziest Dino in the place.

T-Rex

Him and Blue are like the humans deus ex machina’s and quite frankly they deserve better.

Speaking of humanity do we ever fucking learn?

(My brain answers no.)

Seriously, first park failed, and then we had Lost World, then we had 3 (which I don’t remember except it had Tea Leoni and William H. Macy) but then we had the disaster that in-world should still be relevant in peoples minds and apparently cost hundreds of millions of dollars in settlements but nah, lets bring ’em home, treat them inhumanely and then sell them!

I would adopt most things by the way. Generally I like animals better than people but I think even I would draw the line with putting class A fucking predators in my basement. It’s a nice basement but you see how that goes…

Also why must there always be a kid in these movies?

Now I must say I liked Maisie a lot more than the two kids in the last movie whom I wanted to die- that seems cruel- I think they were actually to annoying to be eaten. There’s also some relevant information about Maisie that could have been interesting.

The movie doesn’t do anything with it but hey, points I guess. Just like there’s some interesting ideas with the question of life and should we have saved them from the volcano and why did I sob at a CGI creature being left behind and knowing it. Of course you should have saved them! All of them!

Go back for her and leave Owen!

Chris Pratt as Owen

Am I upset because that scene of the dinosaur calling for help as they left her was upsetting or because I am a sucker?

Hm…

It’s a hard call.

Blue from Fallen Kingdom
Don’t trust him Blue!

To be honest other than that scene that made me cry and want to leave I definitely liked this better than Jurassic World. It did move the dinosaur story forward. I could have done without the entire volcano beginning, the villains were so stupid you almost have to laugh and some of the dinosaurs had more personality than the people.

Me: Why are we here?

BF: We like the dinosaurs.

Me: I didn’t want to see them die by volcano.

BF: I refuse to see Infinity War again until it’s out on DVD.

Me: …?

BF: Air-conditioning?

Me: Works for me.

Recommend: Eh. Despite the big stuff it can wait for home viewing.

  1. This one is in the running Top 10 posts of 2018 – you always find a way to bring it in a totally different way. Thanks, Brian

  2. That hair color is indeed lovely! Could be copper blonde? Loreal Excellence 7.43 looks pretty similar. What’s your hair colour now?

I’m struggling with my hair nowadays as well. Last year i had a really nice blonde shade, but it made my hair break like there’s no tomorrow. So now it’s pretty low key and i’m looking for something else too. Going to my hairdresser next week for ideas 😀

    1. It’s like a light brunette streaks of blonde mix. Going to the hairdresser is something I weirdly hate. I haven’t done anything to it in ages but really need to. Good luck with yours!

      1. Lately i’m going religiously to the hairdresser every two months.
It helped a lot with the colour! Especially with blonde, so much can go wrong when it’s DIY. :s
Also if you have multi tone hair, it’s better to leave the colour change to them I think.
Hope you find your dream hair colour! <3

  3. Love this review! I felt the same way about a lot of your points, especially how they just seemed to point out that detail about Masie (it was neat, but didn’t further the plot in any way), and how the dinosaurs were able to bail the heroes out of every situation.

    1. After the movie I couldn’t help but think of all the ramifications with Maisie! Like do they try to put her in school? Does she inherit the family money? Does she even legally exist! I probably put more thought into that than necessary 🙂

      1. The question that kept nagging at the back of my brain is what is her life expectancy?? If she’s a clone, is she biologically capable of having a long lifespan? The world may never know. Hahaha.

  4. As my progress with movie watching is relatively slow (finally watched Black Panther), I don’t think I’ll be watching this in a cinema anyway. 🙂 Great review, love your take on it and looking forward to watching it. I know I’ll be upset about dinosaurs 🦕 getting hurt but still am looking forward to it. 🙂

  5. I can’t watch these movies because I know I’ll end up screaming at the dinosaurs to eat everyone on screen, as they’re usually so damn annoying. Besides, I must be the only person who doesn’t love everything Spielberg.

Meanwhile, we watched Victoria and Abdul last night, and it had me bawling my eyes out.

      1. We picked it up with a bunch of others in one of those bargain baskets 3 for $15, so who wouldn’t, right? 😀

  6. Yeah Bryce Dallas Howard has cool hair. I never even knew who she is before the first Jurassic World, but yeah… and yeah fair point about the going back for more thing. After World imploded I’m PRETTY sure most people would be like, um, no way?!?

I have a feeling I will like the dinosaurs more than the people in this movie, from what I’ve heard. I hope to see it this weekend… unless I go to Ant Man and the Wasp instead. Which, frankly, I probably will, because shrinking people.

    1. Ant Man and Wasp for me! I’m a huge fan of Evangeline Lily/Hope so I’m totally excited. (Plus Michelle Pheffier- horribly misspelled but you know who I mean!)

  7. Well, good to know I should watch this with those wonderful lowered expectations of mine! Will humans ever learn?? HELLS NO!! Why is there always a kid in the movie?? Who else will we root for the dinosaurs to eat! (I’M KIDDING!! DON’T FREAK OUT!!)…. Although, child actors CAN be super annoying…. 😂😂🍻
