Some Questionable Bookish Vacation Destinations…

all 3 dragoms

It’s been a while since I’ve done a Top Ten Tuesday but since I love the idea of book traveling I thought this weeks topic would be fun.

So 10 probably seriously questionable places mentioned in books that I’d like to visit.

Wonderland

Wonderland

Let’s tea party with the Mad Hatter in a place where everyone’s a little odd. Speaking of…

Gert goes Good

Fairyland

An adorable little world full of sweets and giving me some Candyland vibes. Gert was playing it all wrong. I’d never leave.

Enchantee

Versailles/Paris Pre-Revolution

Sign me up for the aristocracy (it’s just a vacation after all!)

pride and prejudice

Pemberley

I still remember watching the miniseries with my mom and agreeing Elizabeth only wanted him after she saw the house 🙂 I’d put up with a lot of crap for Pemberley.

game of thrones

Westeros

I mean pre-war of course. Sometime when Ned and Cat where still in the North and Robert was only pissing off his wife.

IT

Derry

Which may be a little odd but those kids were adorable and there’s something so creepy about a Stephen King book coming to life. I really think Maine should get on that for tourism.

the lord of the rings

Middle Earth

Such a lovely place 🙂 And actually I do hope to visit New Zealand and the film set one day soon!

Gotham City Sirens

Gotham City

Ah, the people you would meet! The friends you would make!

anne of green gables

Green Gables

And Anne’s world of Octobers. Seriously troubling thought but how much fun would a Harley/ Anne crossover event be???

And lastly, and this may be cheating just a little bit…

Atlantis

Atlantis

I mean even if I’m going with the one envisioned and inhabited in the film it’s not like it was never mentioned in the comics! 🙂

  1. Lol about Pemberley. A frickin ogre might be worth it for THAT place! And Middle earth for sure.

Westeros too but yes before the war. Maybe a nice quiet corner of Highgarden or something.

  2. I’d go to these places out of curiosity but I doubt I would get much of a vacation in – I feel a lot of running away (or swimming away) from things would be involved at almost all of them.

    1. On the bright side the movie will be available in a few days! I’ll probably be able to write a dissertation on it at some point and then there’s Dune 🙂

  3. haha this is a brilliant interpretation of the topic! I really like the sound of fairyland and definitely want to go to Pemberley. Yeah pre-war Westeros would be pretty good. And I’d like to go to Middle earth/new Zealand too!!

  4. Omg so many amazing places! And great point about Pemberley, her reaction in the film adaptation was one of much awe and she did kinda soften after that. 😉 JUST IMAGINE being one of the Stark kids before Littlefinger did his thing, they had such a tranquil life… if not that, Dorne looks so beautiful. Wonderland, yes, yes, yes, that’d be one heck of an adventure. And the Shire at the end of the trilogy where everyone is partying… ah, that gave me life.
