Things Not Conducive to Blogging

sheldon and penny in the er

Probably the main thing not conducive to blogging or keeping up right now is abdominal  surgery and a stomach full of stitches. I told myself I wasn’t going to bother with posting or even scheduling posts but I had really been hoping to keep up with reading and commenting and that just didn’t happen.

Hopefully I can manage more and more.

I have managed to do some reading the last couple of days. I’m currently almost finished Four Dead Queens which was enjoyable but pretty normal up to like the last 2/3rds and it’s starting to look like it could be enjoyable and different so fingers crossed.

four dead queens

I haven’t finished my Game of Thrones reread yet as I have the hardback of that and some books are meant to be read while lying on your stomach not your back. That’s definitely one of them.

Also not overly conducive to blogging…

A two-track mind even if one of those tracks is completely split. Basically all I want to do is theorize about Thrones (and another part of me wonders what show I’m going to scream at every Sunday night now) and of course Endgame.

I got to admit I teared up a little at Nebula all suited up with the Avengers. Though I must admit that bit at the end didn’t do anything for me. I’m sure in context it will be great but the trailer was so epic and that just felt so, eh. I did enjoy Captain Marvel and had a rough draft of a review which might have been more about Fury running a cat alien rescue when and if he ever retires.

My show watching has basically consisted of season 3 of Avatar.

Zuko the last airbender

Me: You’re still an asshole Zuko!

And at this point I don’t see any way Uncle Iroh and Sokka don’t end this as my favorites.

I’ve also completely caught up on this season of the Big Bang Theory. I’m not going to lie that’s in large part because Cinematic Corner mentioned Joe Manganiello appearing in one of her Friday posts! Though Sheldon barfing on William Shatner was probably the best part.

I also pulled out a couple of stitches (when my anxiety and stress is high I’m super literal and people need to give me exact directions) and blew part of my (as of yet still non-existent) tax return on a fancy ass Kitchen Aid Mixer because I have watched one too many baking competitions. Of course as my roommate pointed out it’s pretty and people will think we’re badass cooks. So there is a bright side.

So I shall be reading some blogs and trying not to do or buy anything dumb until Spring. Even I can manage that 🙂

  1. Take care of yourself! That’s priority number 1! 💕 We will be here whenever you are. Although, writing on pain killers could be rather humorous! 😛

  2. Ahh I hope you’d feel better soon and all will heal properly xx
arh – yep, that’s why im not a huge fan of hardcovers xD they are so. heavy..

  3. Sorry to hear about your surgery, hope you are feeling better! That episode with Joe is really funny, it’s a shame the show is ending, I know a lot of people don’t like it but I really enjoy it and there aren’t many fun long-running comedy series out there

  4. Hope you recover and feel better soon! I hate being all stitched up and having to be careful and feeling twinges every time you move lol. As for Thrones- yeah the closer it gets the more I want to delve into all the theories again. And GRRM is pissing me off because most of my theories are bookish, and I haven’t seen any word on those! Gah.

Nebula as an Avenger did look kinda badass. And I liked Fury more in CM than in any of the other Marvel movies? That surprised me- and I can totally see him doting on Goose and running an intergalactic cat/ alien refugee operation.

    1. Fury definitely not just looked but actually felt younger the way Jackson played him. I think that’s why the de-aging worked so well for me.
My Thrones theories tend toward the bookish as well (that’s where my heart is) save for what the show might hint about the books.

  5. Get well soon, I hope you’ll recover fast. That being said, this is a great time for catching up with reading and watching movies, there’s nothing else to do :))

  6. I hope your recovery is quick and as painless as possible! I’m sorry you blew a stitch that sucks 🙁 Nick Fury running an alien cat farm would be amazing and I would totally watch that! 😂😂

  7. I’m so sorry you’ve had to go through that! I hope your recovery gets smoother and you can get a lot of reading/watching in. I’m also distracted by Endgame coming up and just saw Captain Marvel, which I loved–not least for Fury and Goose 🙂 I’ve been reading a lot lately and just finished Unsheltered by Barbara Kingsolver. It was not an easy book but gave me lots to think about. Is it on your TBR list?

    1. I have Unsheltered on my list! Poisonwood Bible by Kingsolver is one of my all-time favs so I kind of went through and just added all her stuff. I really need to get around to it 🙂 Interested in hearing your thoughts on that one. Poisonwood wasn’t an easy read either I actually put it down for ages but when I picked it up again I just loved it. She’s an excellent author!

  8. Oh I’m so sorry to hear about your surgery! I hope you’re feeling better… I never had one *knocks on wood* but I would probably end up pulling out my stiches too considering how incredibly clumsy I am (I once cut myself with a bread knife – A BREAD KNIFE I MEAN HOW)

I am incredibly anxious about GOT… I’m not sure how I’ll react to this season, it’s been way too long and part of the magic seems to be gone, yet I’m also super excited to see what happens. It’s very conflicting xD

Captain Marvel was awesome!!! I read a few comics and a novel before going to see the movie and wow, just wow. GOOSE WAS SOOOO CUTE and also a really really big surprise hahaha (I loved it! And loved Fury. He and Carol are absolute friendship goals)

    Wishing you a fast recovery <3 <3

  9. Aw, hope you are feeling better soon!
Kitchen Aid stuff is cool A F. I don’t own any, but one day… One day i will 😀 Not that i bake, but again… one day… Hope you enjoy yours! 🙂

  10. I hope you have a safe and speedy recovery! Loved Fury in Captain Marvel, and the Avengers: Endgame was epic. Looking forward to your posts when you’re healed and ready to blog! 🙂

  11. Oh no, I hope you’re ok! When I had surgery on my leg they just glued me back together, which is good because I’m terrible at taking instructions (I was like “what are all these tablets” when I eventually looked through all the stuff they’d sent me home with about a week later). 😂

I have a pretty turquoise Kenwood mixer that’s like a fake KitchenAid 😂. They definitely make you look more competent, even if they hardly ever get used!

    1. I know! I’m very literal anyway and when my anxiety is that high taking instructions is just like out the window! Don’t leave any room for me to screw it up people cause I well.

I didn’t even think about that I was just looking for cake mixers like my grandmothers old school one and went with the first things that came up. I probably should not have been allowed to online shop right then!

      1. 😂 Apparently they explained all my aftercare to me when I was still coming round from my anaesthetic so I had no idea what to do! I’m very literal too and my anxiety makes me overthink everything so if it’s not clearly spelled out, it’s not going to happen.

You’re allowed to treat yourself when you’re ill! It’s a know fact that presents make you get better quicker 😉

      2. Me to! Also it was like oh you’re conscious good here’s some clothes here’s some directions go home and have a nice day! 🙂 I’m just glad that parts over knock on wood!

  12. Ooh, dear. Abdominal surgery and stitches and pulling out stitches… whew. That’s a lot to go through. How is everything now? It’s nice that you have TBBT to keep you entertained during this!
