Being Your Best Basic Self

Next Level Basic

Next Level Basic

By: Stassi Schroeder

So while I was listening to this (and I definitely recommend the audio) I was thinking of my own basic bitch list. As the whole point of the book, as much as there is one, is to own that kind of thing.

If you don’t like subtitled films that everyone tells you is award worthy and all the smart people are seeing and you’d chose a Godzilla film any day of the week- own that monster!

Anyway, I was thinking of what would be on my list while out on a Saturday in which I went to Barnes and Noble solely to buy the Taylor Swift entertainment weekly and then went to Wholefoods solely to buy a roast chicken for my elderly cat who isn’t eating much else these days and then did nothing else for the rest of the weekend and I thought…

That pretty much could go on my list right there.

Stassi Schroeder is on Vanderpump Rules- a show I know because that would definitely be on my mom’s list. It’s a simple silly book. A fun summer read with a good message of don’t try to be something you aren’t.

Which the total bitch in me did at times think that’s a little rich coming from a reality television star.

Credit where due she does own that as well.

It’s a fluffy read but again I did love the foodie part. Anyone that provides a list of the best places to get Ranch dressing servings immediately goes on my good soul list. With ranch is basically the only way you can get me to happily eat a salad. And I’d still much rather dip fries into it.

She also talks about hot dogs but I find hot dogs somewhat evil so I’m just going to let that slide. But if you love them options are provided in a couple of different places, not just LA.

My basic bitch foodie list would be cookies, pizza & fries. Though I’m not that much of a foodie.

If you are in Huntington Beach there’s a sub place called Philly Grill that has a killer hot pastrami and amazing fries. Probably literal on the killer as occasionally the bags would be nearly falling apart from the grease by the time we got home.

I think what the whole basic bitch thing boils down to is it’s the things you love that make you who you are and life is too short to pretend otherwise for other peoples favors. So provided it’s legal and you aren’t hurting anybody just do you and celebrate that and you’ll find plenty of people who share your love.

Or at least admire and connect with your passion.

Recommend: 50-50. The book was fun but exactly what you think it’s going to be. If you are looking for something simple in the style of what’s in my bag posts (I would have to clean it before that could ever happen) and style tips give it a whirl.

Now I’m going to continue on my basic bitch day off of reading, laundry, complaining about the heat (already) and ranking the X-Men movies based on mutant hotness.

Happy Monday 🙂
