When I first started book blogging I told myself be careful of Netgalley. Don’t get overwhelmed with ARCS. I am a total mood reader and also one of the worst things you can do is give me any kind of reading deadline.
I’ve mostly kept to that and appreciate any ARCs that I do get but my relationship with Netgalley can definitely swing like a pendulum between moods.
Netgalley: Approved!
Me: Oh my God! You are my new best book friend! I love you!
Netgalley: Denied.
Denied.
Denied.
Denied.
Netgalley: Ha! Take a hint already!
Me: Fine! I don’t want to play with you anymore anyway!
(A couple of weeks later.)
Me: Well there’s no way I’m getting this one it’s one of the years biggest releases and one of my most anticip-
Netgalley: Approved!
Me: What? I love you again! We really have to better define this relationship…
Also me…

Me: Damn. Note to self post that review you had done a month ago! There’s really no excuse lazy bones.

E-Mail: Your Netgalley Checklist
Me: Darn it!
And then the whole process starts again. I am going to make catching up on ARCs a summer goal. I was going to say June goal but I know my limitations 🙂
RELATABLE 👏🏻😂
Lol, I can relate strongly to this post. My goal for summer is to clear off a backlog of 9 overdue (hangs head in blogger shame) reviews.
Good luck! I did one and I’m like yes! Progress!
I was doing SO well on my review books, and then just recently I went crazy again. I have no idea why! Sigh. Off to go read…
Sometimes you can’t stop yourself with that Request button and then it’s like oh no! What have I done??? Good luck!
I’ve never been on net galley because i only receive hard copies for review, but i can imagine how addictive it must be having so many options at your fingertips! I didn’t realize it sends you a weekly email either…
Ugh, that request button especially when you’re bored is so much trouble!
Ha! This sounds exactly like me 😀 I try really hard not to request books but yet, here I am supposed to be reading a book a month ago and I still haven’t gotten to it 🤦🤦
hehehe I suddenly almost relate to that Dany moment in GOT- just by your comparing it to that moment when you’re denied on netgalley 😉
I feel like every time I read a post about Netgalley, it always makes me want to stay away solely because of the deadlines bloggers feel pressured to read in time by… and then that already existing TBR. Maybe one day. And I don’t think I’m ready for that rejection either. By the way, is there ever any Diary of a Wimpy Kid arc included? For that, I might change my mind.
I think I’ve seen them pop up on there in the past. I’m not a 100% sure on that though!
I guess it is time to join after all then.
