Spiderman: Far From Home
Directed By: Jon Watts
If I was to sum up Far From Home I’d say entertaining diverting fun but the most interesting stuff is in the credits teasing what’s to come for the MCU.
And Peter’s relationship with Tony and that’s not just me making everything about Tony 🙂 he looms large in Far From Home.
We do get a bit of how people are dealing with the snap. Mourning Iron Man, Nat and all those that were lost. I did enjoy the kid having an existential crisis because his younger brother was now his older brother. Everyone is trying to move on including Peter (Tom Holland) who wants to use the class summer trip to tell MJ (Zendaya) how he feels.
Meanwhile Nick Fury, Mysterio and some really big monsters are going to get in the way of that.
The performances are good and the settings are pretty. I didn’t really care for Mysterio at any point though. Jake Gyllenhaal is fine but the whole thing just feels so anti-climatic. Again there’s a mid-credit scene where it gets really interesting and you can intwine it with stories and fake news and people needing to believe in something all day long but that was at the mid-credits.
It was also nice to see Angourie Rice get something more to do. Unfortunately it involved Ned and I do not like him.
I did like Jon Favreau’s increased role as Happy and the change in his relationship with Peter. I love Peter Parker and his many father figures. Samuel L. Jackson was great as Fury but there’s stuff about his character that comes into play in the credits that changes my view of him in the movie.
Nice touch that even after death Tony’s still making decisions with Peter that have everyone going, “What was he thinking?”
So all in all it’s an entertaining film. It opens up some interesting things for the MCU as well as Spiderman himself. But you don’t really need to rush out and see it in theaters. You got plenty of time if you want to wait. Even the effects while fine wasn’t anything new and I saw it in 3-D!
Recommend: Overall yes. But see above.
GREAT BLOG, CHINA
Hmm maybe I’ll wait a bit, I’m not super into Spiderman BUT I did spoil myself on the end credits scene and… THAT’S an interesting development!
Right? Honestly it’s the most interesting part of the film 🙂
Okay, I am not going to see this movie in theaters. I do not want to wait for the DVD to find out what’s coming next. Run me through the credit sequences. (Maybe I should just YouTube it…)
nvm, I youtubed it.
Its the most interesting thing about the film in all honesty!
Yeah, a big part of why I’m not making a huge effort to get to the theater is that, at this point, everything has pretty much been said about Peter Parker that there is to say, so I know I’m not really missing anything. I’m fine waiting for DVD.
Since I am not a normal person instead of going to see this I went to watch Midsommar 😂but I will catch this one on home release, especially since you say effects are not mind blowing
I can’t see Midsommar for a few more days since my nephews here for the holiday! He said he’d go but still that’s probably not good adulting 😉
I think I’m done with Marvel, for now, so I haven’t seen the movie! But I’ve seen that there has been a lot of emphasis on the credit scenes!
“Jake Gyllenhaal is fine” Girl, really?! :O I MIGHT AS WELL JUST WATCH THE MOVIE FOR HIM!
Gyllenhaal gives a good performance I think the character is a bit of a let down unfortunately 🙁
Ah man, the mid credit scene left a HUGE cliffhanger! How is he going to handle it?!?!?! Ahhhhhh. Also I loved the movie haha, sorry you didn’t like it better. Tho I totally agree about Happy, its great he is getting more screen time. I cried when he picked up Peter and they embraced in the field. You can definitely see how much he cares for him.
Peter and Happy embracing 🙂
I mean I think Happy always liked the kid but was keeping a distance and now is not. And the press stuff has potentially a Dark Knight/ Dark Knight Rises feel to it. I do wonder how dark they can go with the subject matter if not with the action itself. Glad you loved the film!
I loved Far From Home! And the end credits scene had me quaking! Can’t wait to see what happens! I’ve literally lost sleep over it!
Yeah, lots of interesting things to come for Spiderman I think 🙂
