It’s End of Year List Time!

the grinch

I’m trying not to think of the End of the Year looming or the end of the decade for that matter. But I do need to get some organization going so I thought I’d do the tag but make it a bit of a catch-all for books, films and television!

The tag was originally created on Youtube by Ariel Bissett.

Anything started that I still need  want to finish:

Oscar wilde

I started the Complete Works of Oscar Wilde hoping I could read it for Victober which was just crazy on the face of it. I’m not even done with the two sections I started but since I’ve read some of his plays and Dorian Grey before I think once I get to them I’ll be able to fly through.

leslie and ben parks and recreations

The final season of Parks and Recreations.

I mentioned in my anxiety helpers that I had never watched the final season because then it would be over for good. But several of you said I really should plus it’s going to be gone from Netflix next year (I think as soon as January) I’m on episode seven so I’ll finish but it will make me so sad 🙁

Do you have a book, film or show that works as a transition into fall/end of the year?

For some reason I only watch (or read) the Harry Potter/Lord of the Rings films this time of year.

Hermione Granger

What’s a new release I’m still waiting for?

queen of nothing

November 19th

starsight

November 26th

Call Down the Hawk

Now!

I should be reading this as this post goes up 🙂

What do you want to read or watch by 2020?

See above in terms of books.

In terms of movies I made a list the other day and there was like 41 films I’d like to watch by the end of the year but that’s not going to happen so I think my top 3 would be:

The Farewell

Midsommar

Florence Pugh in midsommar

Ad Astra

A book that could surprise me and become my new favorite?

Well I have great hopes for the three mentioned above. I’m also hoping to read Little Women and want to love that!

Do you already have plans for 2020?

Really, really like to read more of what’s on my shelves already. And to be honest unlike this year where even at November there was a list of new releases in 2019 that I wanted that’s just not the case.

A Murderbot novel is coming and I’m all over my favorite AI. But that’s about it.

In terms of reading and film though I’d love to keep expanding. I read some translated fiction this year outside the usual scope of what I’d pick up and I’d like to geographically expand where possible. I have some good recommendations for Bollywood films to get to and I’m always open to suggestions for books or films if anyone knows any good ones 🙂

And if you are bummed about the end of the decade being only two months away well, here’s the Stranger Things season 3 bloopers for a laugh!

In the hopes that we see 4 in 2020 🙂

  1. Uh oh, Parks and Rec is coming off Netfix? We’re only on like, season 5 or something! I guess we’ll never find out what happens… *sigh* Still need to read Murderbot. It was a goal for this year, but other SciFi books kept coming up. Maybe in 2020.

  2. It’s scary how close the end of the year is coming! January dragged for what felt like years and then boom, it’s November!
The final season of Parks & Rec is so bittersweet, it’s got a beautiful ending but then you know it’s over 🙁

  3. I loved those ST bloopers so much! A nice little offering while we wait for season 4. I also re-read the HP books. I’m currently in the middle of HBP. I have a couple of books left that I want to read for the year. I just need to start devoting more time to reading. I also so love Parks and Rec. I’m going to be so bummed when P&R and The Office are gone from Netflix.

  4. Agree Midsommar left an impression but like you I couldn’t make a top 10 films of the year yet. Before 2020, hopefully I can watch the new films The Irishman, Marriage Story, The Art of Self-Defense, Sorry We Missed You, Parasite, & Star Wars 9.

    1. Oh definitely to early for a best of 🙂 I’m hopeful I’ll get to Marriage Story if it appears on Netflix and no way is my nephew going to let me miss the new Star Wars!

  5. Big plans for the end of the year 🙂 Definitely go watch Ad Astra, it’s a great movie, I loved it! My list is way shorter- the only book i want to read in the next few weeks is Wayward Son by Rainbow Rowell, curious to read the sequel

    1. Ad Astra’s going to be available on Apple in December I was super excited to see it so I’ll probably just wind up purchasing it 😉 I think I’ll like it and either way it’s Brad and he’s looking good these days so definitely worth it!

  6. Great post!

I having been wanting to see Midsommar, as well. It looks super interesting. I figure since the DVD is out for it, it’s only a matter of time before it’s on cable. So eventually, I’ll get around to seeing it.

I loved Parks and Recreation! I had no idea it was going to be taken off of Netflix. Definitely miss that show.

My goal for the new year is to read the two Veronica Mars novels. I re-watched the first three seasons, and finally just saw the movie. I want to read the books before I check out the new season.

    1. I haven’t seen the new movie yet :/ I feel like I need to at least watch the last one first. I hope it’s good though.

I did watch Midsommar this week. It was… interesting. I am glad I got to it though!

  7. I’ve never watched Parks & Rec and I’m still waiting for it to hit UK Netflix. I haven’t yet read a Holly Black book, but I’m worried that I might be a little intimidated by it. I tend to prefer high fantasy, so I don’t know if it’ll be up my street? But it’s gotten so many glowing reviews, so I want to see what it’s about.

You know I’m waiting for your review on Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Ghum, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kal Ho Na Ho! 😔 Good or bad review, I can’t wait to see what you think!
