Noelle
Directed by: Marc Lawrence
I like the whole cast of Noelle and if I’m going to watch a Christmas movie it better be somewhat at the North Pole.
So no I’m not going to admit that I may have signed up for an entire streaming service just to see Bill Hader play a Santa in training. Nope. Not admitting that.
So far I’m actually happy with Disney + I might have subscribed for Bill but the old content alone is probably going to keep me busy for a while and I did enjoy the first episode of Mandalorian.
As for Noelle its my kind of Christmas movie even apart from Bill. I like the cast. (Shirley MacLaine as Nick and Noelle’s nanny Polly! And boy do they need a nanny.) It’s a North Pole I would live in, elf gear I would totally wear and super cute reindeer.
Basically Nick is training to take over for his father but failing badly at it. When his sister Noelle suggests a pre-Christmas vacation he decides well, he’s going to make that a long-term idea. When the elders can’t see the writing on the wall and need a new Santa all kinds of trouble ensues and Noelle and Polly take off to bring Nick home.
There’s also no romance in this one! This is one of those very rare movies where I could have gone for a little at the end.
Kendrick is enjoyable as the lead. I appreciated mixed in with all her Christmas cheer a true love of presents that I can get behind. And she is a bit of a spoiled brat. She pulls off the angry intensity well to. She and Nick have a very fun brother- sister back and forth throughout. Oddly enough I thought her weakest scene was the big counsel scene.
Noelle is a super fun little Christmas film. It’s predictable sure. And I do think just the look and feel of it- it’s perfect to stream. If I had seen it in theaters I probably would have said it’s totally waitable. But if you’re giving Disney + a go it’s worth a Christmas watch.
Recommend: Yes.
Fantastic review! Iโve been keeping my fingers crossed about this so Iโm glad it didnโt disappoint. Iโm actually okay about the lack of romance given that Netflix seems to be looking to compete with the Hallmark Channel in terms of holiday romance movies.
Oh man Netflix is full force on that not that I’m not totally going to watch that Knight Before Christmas movie ๐
Iโll be caving on that too.๐
I plan on watching this but haven’t gotten a chance yet. I’m glad to hear it’s cute.
Yeah I was a little shocked when he asked to see her again and she was like – every December 24th!
I loved that!
AHHHHH!! I AM SOOO EXCITED TO WATCH THIS ONEEE!! โค๏ธ๐๐๐
โif Iโm going to watch a Christmas movie it better be somewhat at the North Pole.โ AND I TOTALLY AGREE WITH THAT! ๐คฃ๐คฃ My favorite movie to watch at Christmas used to be and still is THE NORTH POLE!! โค๏ธโค๏ธ๐๐๐ MAN DOES THAT MOVIE GIVES ME ALL THE AWESOME NORTHERN VIBES! ๐๐๐
I’m watching this today. Can’t wait! I could probably watch anything with Bill and Anna in it.
So glad you liked the movie! It was beyond adorable and Snowcone stole the show even from Bill ๐
Snowcone is adorable! Between that and the Mandalorian thing Disney can just have my money ๐
Great review. Iโm thinking to download the Disney + app, itโs an app right? Still not sure how much it costs and Iโm guessing it contains all the Disney films? Iโm still in the middle of watching Lilo and Stitch, but I cried so much (poor Lilo, Nani and Stitch!) that Iโm taking my time before I finish the final 30 mins.
