Top 5 Tuesday: Things I’m Doing in Isolation

Andy Samberg as Jake Peralta in Brooklyn 99

Today’s Top 5 Tuesday Topic over at Bionic Book Worm is Things Keeping Me Distracted During Self-Isolation.

I think this is a great topic and we can all share and help each other!

Brooklyn 99

Jake and Charles in Brooklyn 99

I’ve watched a couple episodes here and there in the past but since I added Hulu to my Disney+ package I started from season one and this time it sucked me in. It probably shouldn’t surprise me I’m enjoying it since it’s by the same producer that did Parks and Recreations but still. Now I get what people see in it!

 DC Super Hero Girls

I started watching this a while back when I was sick and then picked it up again when this started and realized…

They all got older. What happened?

It’s still a fun little web series and I love the characters.

Learning to Sew

No, I’m not really but every time I find new Youtubers I want to do whatever it is their selling and that’s pretty much the case with Micarah Tewers. She makes me laugh which right now is appreciated. Plus we seemed to be equally as bad at numbers and measuring anything.

Honestly though when this ends I may try the Harley Quinn costume.

Sophie Turner as jean grey

Practicing my Telekinesis/Losing Track of Time

Well not really on the first one but I do need to get back into a schedule because there’s been a shocking amount of times in the past couple of weeks where I’ve seen my remote or my phone or a book out of reach and reached for it thinking, “Come to me, this will work. I so need it to work.”

Also there was a good week and a half there where I was convinced that next week was the 4th of July.

If only.

Rewatching Old Favorites

Well I got into rewatching some of my more questionable old favorites so far; Jupiter Ascending, The Parent Trap, Reign of Fire and The Three Musketeers. I told myself I could see if they hold up and then blog about that and whether or not my thoughts on the film had changed.

I’m sure many people would point out that they never really held up but I still enjoy them and it’s been fun revisiting them.

So that’s the five (sort of) things I’ve been doing with self-isolation. Hopefully I can be more productive in the next few weeks!

  1. I wish next week was the fourth of July too. That has nothing to do with the Coronavirus; I just really like warm/hot weather, so that’s more or less my default state in fall/winter.

    1. I’m the opposite but they do keep expecting this to be more controlled my summer so bring on the 115 degree temperatures! Something I have never said before ever 🙂

  2. Erm, when you mention ‘The Three Musketeers’, you are speaking of the Michael York, Charlton Heston, Christopher Lee, Rachel Welch, Oliver Reed and Faye Dunaway version, right?

    1. 🙂
I mean the goofy Kiefer Sutherland, Chris O’Donnell version that I watched back in the 90s! I should definitely look for some more classic versions of the story. Could be fun to do a compare and contrast!

      1. The 1973 version of which I speak is absolutely charming and features an all star cast. The martial arts in this film is astounding. I have never seen better sword play.

They went all out on this movie and filmed lots of extra scenes. So much so, that there was enough left over footage of what was either too silly, or too serious to go into the film and made a second movie out of the excess scenes. ‘The Four Musketeers’ is odd. The cast and crew had to sue en masse to get paid, because the producers tried to pull a fast one.

  3. Peaky Blinders has been occupying a lot of my time this past week. I’m glad I’m FINALLY watching this after saying I was going to for the past few years.

  4. My sister really liked Jupiter Ascending, but I have yet to see it. I might check it out on Netflix. We’ve been watching a lot of old favorites too. Nothing in particular, just bouncing around with movies that catch our eye and haven’t seen in a while. Diddo with losing track of time. I thought I’d get a lot more done, but it’s hard to feel in the mood to work or do something creative.

  5. I hear Brooklyn 99 is up for its final season, I wonder how the last season will shape in light of blm.

Oo, maybe you should take up sewing. A few girls used to do it at one place I worked, and it looked so therapeutic. Could be fun to knit a hat for a baby. The hat would be Phoebe style of course with colourful decorations.

Think I’m finally coming around to having a schedule now albeit following it fairly loosely. I hope things are going well and you’re staying both sane and safe. 💫

    1. I do wonder if they’ll even do a final season technically where they ended it could work really well for an actual ending so I wouldn’t be too upset about it.
