So there are rumors now that Wonder Woman 1984 is going to be pushed to December pushing Dune into 2021 and I have some thoughts about that one. There’s also been mention of Black Widow being pushed but that doesn’t seem nearly as loud rumor wise yet.
It looks like the delay for this movie, if they do it, is mostly because should New York and LA be able to open they don’t want it to compete with their precious Tenet.
Tenet opened domestically at long last over this weekend and made about $20 million and that wasn’t actually just the 3 or 4 day but nearly a week of previews as well.
I have to be honest I’m already kind of over Tenet. I was spoiled by the international reviews and honestly the mixed reviews have put me off as well. Honestly if I had the choice there wouldn’t even be one I’ve been waiting for Wonder Woman 1984.
Tenet is a done deal. By then it would have been out for ages and considering I don’t particularly appreciate movies where people say oh, you have to watch it twice to understand it ugh. I swear Tenet and Warner Brothers are turning me bitter over this one. Not the least of which they released a killer trailer of the lovely Rebecca Ferguson, Jason having a good time and Oscar Isaac and his beautiful beard…

Well maybe. More likely their trying to change people’s viewing habits going back to when movies used to be in theaters endlessly and there were overall less films to compete with. It’s not the worst idea in the world but damn it you can’t change people all at once. I’ve been patient all year.
I mean for fuck’s sake you’re basically competing with yourself until Black Widow anyway.

I still want to see Tenet, as I’m a Nolan fan, but I do have to admit I’m not as excited for it as for some of his other movies.
The Dune trailer really does look good, although I have to say that I don’t really like the music choice for it. That said, this director hardly ever disappoints, so it will be very interesting to see if this film is going to live up to the hype😊
Yeah people seem split on the music but from what I understand the song choice is a callback to a lost Dune film or documentary or something… Villeneuve is apparently very passionate about Dune so I hope this works out!
I am going to go and see Tenet today actually! As for Wonder Woman 1984, as long as I do get to see it one day… I am so excited for that film, yet it keeps getting pushed away… finally, for Dune, any film directed by Denis Villeneuve has me there. An incredible filmmaker. I’d actually support him making a Metroid movie (hear me out) as I reckon he could capture that beautiful sci-fi isolation of Samus Aran without over-doing the action.
I complain but really I just think they need to stick to a schedule at this point. None of these films are going to make what they would have if this never happened, and pushing them 2 or 3 months at a time, probably won’t change anything, but if they truly want a sense of normalcy (barring a rise in cases being traced to cinemas) they need to just stick to the dates and let the consumers decide.

Just got back, that was complicated but very impressive! Gonna write up my thoughts in a post soon; yeah it isn’t going to go back to how it was for a while, so unless they’re gonna delay for another year…
Because of American government messing up and Nolan making a turd of a movie that is unable to engage viewers now everyone in Europe has to wait :/ Studios need to stop prioritizing American audiences rn. The cinemas here are open. And now? I’m just done with WW1984. It went from my most anticipated movie to my hype completely burning out because of the delays
I did wonder about that. I thought Tenet did fine overseas but honestly I do think the mixed reviews hurt it here as much as anything else.
I can wait for WW1984 but damn it I wanted to spend Christmas with Oscar and Jason and I do not see how they reasonably release both those movies a week apart without tanking Dune. There going to move it they just don’t want to admit it yet 🙁
I read ‘Dune’ about forty years ago. It still resonates. I enjoyed the David Lynch version, {unpopular opinion} but this film appears incredibly accurate. Imma gonna see it.
I loved the latest version of Wonder Woman but I was a bit disappointed to learn about the origins of the story is not as wholesome as the ideas that she stands for 🙁
