I sometimes set myself seasonal TBR’s and Fall is always a good time to read certain books. Give me some good mysteries and thrillers on the days it gets dark earlier cause. Also give me some easier reads cause Fall is usually a busy time.
So I thought I’d share some of the books on my TBR a lot of them I’m considering now or never reads cause I’ve had them for a while…
Black Sun
So naturally I start the list with an ARC. But I’ve been looking forward to this fantasy since I heard of it and got lucky on Netgalley so I think I’ll definitely get to this one very soon as it’s out in early October. It’s inspired by stories from the ‘pre-Columbian’ Americas and involves a “God” returned and celestial prophecies so sounds like a good Fall fantasy!
The Corset and The Silent Companions
And then there’s not one but two Laura Purcell books I’ve had since last year. The Corset is about a possible murderess seamstress and possibly magic. The Silent Companions seems to be about a woman who believes a carved figurine (which looks like her) is alive!
My Year of Rest and Relaxation
A girl whose had enough and decides to attempt to sleep for a year? This is another one I’ve had for a while but 2020 has finally put me in the mood. Plus it’s going to be a movie so there’s that 🙂
Pumpkinheads
I generally think you’d be hard pressed to find a book that screams fall more just from the cover and the title than this one. It’s about 2 friends who see each other every year when they go to work in the local pumpkin patch.
The Long Halloween
Okay so the story actually goes all year but it’s got Halloween in the title so that’s what makes it sound like fall to me. Apparently the villains, or a villain is screwing with Batman’s head, and it’s supposed to be what the movie is partly based on. At least going by the rumors I’ve heard. So it’s definitely on my list for Fall.
I just feel like you can’t read something called the Long Halloween at Easter but that’s just me.
The Five
Yet another one sitting on my Kindle too long!
It’s a nonfiction about the lives of Jack the Ripper’s victims which I think is a brilliant idea. We spend too much time talking about the killers and the bad guys and apparently Rubenhold has learned a lot about these women, the lives they lead and the way history misinterpreted them. I think this will be an interesting on to get to in between the fiction!
And those are my self-imposed fall must reads. Hopefully this list keeps me on track and I don’t wind up looking back thinking I jinxed myself!
