I’ve been trying to stay positive recently but movies (and books obviously) are my happy place and when something annoys you it just annoys you.
Actually this is mostly because I watched Nomadland and while a really good movie it has the number one thing that annoys me…
I don’t need to see people going to the bathroom on screen. Like get off the toilet (or the bucket in the case of Nomadland) granted I don’t see it a lot but it feels like more and more.
Realism is great isn’t it?
And I’m sure people are like yes, yes it is and I respect that but if you wanted to know how she was going to the bathroom there’s also the whole little scene with the woman doing the bucket tutorial that was actually pretty funny.
I admit it didn’t take away from the movie. We all have our little things right? I don’t need to see you shaking it out or having the runs.
I have a friend who ever since high school avoided certain comedies and would squirm in her seats at some scenes in other movies because she would get second hand embarrassment so badly for the characters.
They didn’t even need to realize they were being embarrassed! She’d feel it for them!
I also hate it when animals are sad (animals dying or abuse is another thing I don’t want to see but I check spoilers when I think that is even possible) and that includes animated movies. As much as I hate it I’d rather watch everyone go to the bathroom than see a sad animal!

They have all kinds of spoilers for emotional minefields you might not want to see on the screen.
But Nomadland was good. Loved the cinematography I do think the movie itself is a bit overhyped (and Frances was good but Carey was robbed for Best Actress) but it’s on Hulu so it was worth the watch.
Recommend Nomadland: Sure.
Doesthedogdies is amazing! I should use it more often- i do also hate when animals are sad.
What I hate the most is how tv shows is using suicide attempts as « cliff hanger » 🤦🏽♀️ seems like ALL series use then nowadays, and i’m not talking thoses where it “make sense” on a character being made with intent.. but thoses just out of the blue because hey why not.
That is a really troubling one actually. I haven’t run into that one a lot myself but that’s really bad.
I’ll never use the site but “does the dog die?” is a perfect name for it !
I’ll have to check out that dog site lol. Nomadland was good, and I think it deserved Best Picture for the most part. The only thing I didn’t care for too much was the subject matter. I get what you mean about bathroom scenes in movies. Hollywood is Hollywood, I don’t go for realism. The only poop jokes that ever made me laugh were from Dumb and Dumber and Bridesmaids. A personal movie related pet peeve for me is children swearing.
My sister-in-law hates that to. Though she’s a stickler about that in real life and my nephew does tend to pick up and repeat everything he hears.
I agree with it being just as annoying in real life.
Haven’t seen Nomadland, but there are many things in movies that drive me crazy….. Bad plot, undeveloped storylines, nonsensical plots… I think the biggest genre I actually hate are comedies.
There are only a handful of comedies I really like. But over the top slap-stick comedies I can NOT stand.
Not a fan of slapstick comedy movies. I think they tend to overstay their welcome. It’s funny for like the first 30 minutes or so and then I just feel like it gets old.
Does The Dog Die is great. I wish they’d let users add actual time stamps though, that would be even more helpful.
I share your discomfort with watching people use the bathroom on scene. I just…don’t care. Why are we seeing this? It doesn’t make it more “raw”

I’ve known about that website for so long now but always forget to use it! I hate seeing dog deaths in movies, especially when it’s unnecessary to the plot.
I hate it when characters are driving and they spend SO long not looking at the road! It’s silly but it happens so much and it makes me nervous.
Oh that is so true about drivers not looking at the road. Reminds me of my mother driving sometimes 🙂
