The Dune sequel is official a go.
While it’s been whispered that it would be Legendary announced it officially today. And yeah for more spice!
I saw the movie this weekend and both loved it and had some nitpicks but when it comes right down to it after two and a half hours I wanted more immediately…
And considering this days I think any movie that stretches over two hours is too long that’s impressive.
It’s set for October 2023 with everyone returning and gives us plenty of time to speculate on all kinds of things… Whose going to play the Emperor? The Princess? I heard a rumor once upon a time that it was going to be Emma Roberts…
I want to see how far Dennis can take this into Messiah territory and get into the Crusade 🙂 Anyway glad to hear it got a confirmed sequel and hopefully knowing that it will convince even more people to check out the first film by that time!

I knew it would be greenlit. I liked it too even though I still wouldn’t call myself a hardcore fan. Having watched the 1984 film, I figured it cut off where it did.
It does make the most sense to cut it there. It definitely left me wanting more although now I’m really hoping Villeneuve can get into Messiah! Already getting ahead of myself!
I’m completely new to Dune so I’m really hoping to enjoy this when I see it on Monday (hopefully!). Super glad that the sequel has already been announced!
I hope you enjoy it!
That’s certainly good news. The alternative would’ve been for it to end up like countless sequel-baiting works that don’t get renewed for another installment. I have to admit I’ve never experienced that myself, but I can definitely sympathize with it.
I read “Dune” several months ago and was really looking forward to the move — and it didn’t disappoint. I also had some nitpicky things, like why were many of the scenes on Caladan so dark? I thought they would’ve worked better with more greenery, as a contrast to Arrakis. Anyway… I’m happy that a Part Two has gotten the green light!
Yeah I definitely had some nitpicks about some stuff that was left out. But maybe now that the sequel is secure Villenueve will feel more secure going into part 2!
