You know if Rise of Skywalker had just done what’s in the preview for the new Holiday special I think I would have been okay with it actually. Embrace the crazy. Go with it. And I need a laugh so this looks like it will provide it.
The Hollow Places
By: T. Kingfisher
So I have been reading a lot of eh books recently I worried I was taking too much of a chance on this arc by an author I’ve never read before but I was pleasantly surprised by how much fun it was.
It was a nice little bit of something different and out there thank you Netgalley for the ARC.
The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue
By: V.E. Schwab
Addie LaRue is about a girl in 1700’s France who wants to get out of her arranged marriage and live. She makes a deal with the devil that winds up in an ultimate curse. She’s immortal but no one will ever remember her.
And he means that in the immediate way. Like her family forgets her. Someone turns their head and boom it’s who are you? I admit I hoped for so much on this one the idea sounded so good and ultimately I was disappointed.
I get a bit spoilery below. Nothing you probably haven’t already heard or assumed about the book but just beware if you want to go in completely blind.
Aliens
Directed By: James Cameron
SPOILERS!
So since Disney owns Fox now that kind of makes Ripley a Princess right? I mean they even call her Sleeping Beauty in this and she does have some of the story traits including a seemingly happy ending.
The Mandalorian and Baby Yoda are back this Friday! And I am ready for some Baby Yoda goodness. But I thought I’d do some predications on what I think is going to go down this season before the season starts and we see how wrong I am!
No spoilers for season 2! (But spoilers for season one below!)
Venus in the Blind Spot
By: Junji Ito
My first horror manga!
Honestly I think this might be my favorite manga yet. Of all the Junji Ito options I had to start with this one because I find the cover art so striking and that turned out to be a really good approximation of what’s inside.
The Phenomenon
Directed By: James Fox
I like aliens. And frankly if they wanted to overtake my government at this point I’d be more than happy to swear my allegiance but that’s a whole other story.
Anyway once I saw this documentary I knew I had to watch. Make a believer out of me.
