After finishing this book I found myself a bit torn on the rating. I liked a lot of it. Liked the ideas but I also felt very cold overall and I think it comes down to the main character in the end.

Starsight
By: Brandon Sanderson
This was my first read of the new year, new decade and as those things go it was a perfect 5 Star way to start a new reading cycle!
Starsight is the sequel to Skyward so there’s spoilers for that one below. I try to keep it vague but you’ll definitely find out what characters survive. If you haven’t read that one yet and are interested… what’s stopping you?
Skyward
By: Brandon Sanderson
Brandon Sanderson is one of those authors I’ve always wanted to read but at the same time I look at his books and go, “Man those are long.” So I’m happy to say Skyward (was long) but totally fun and fast and I will definitely be picking up more of his work.
Upgrade
Directed By: Leigh Whannell
Grade: B
After a mugging a badly injured Grey Trace (Logan Marshall-Green) agrees to take part in a top secret experiment and is implanted with a widget that is essentially like artificial intelligence. In Grey’s case it’s supposed to help him live a full life after his injuries what it actually does is much, more more than that.
Defy the Stars

Grade: A
You can just bring me all the AI stories and I’ll eat them up. The AI in this Abel, the most advanced of his kind, was left behind during one war and alone for thirty-years only to be found when the next one starts up. Needless to say he’s not the same as he once was.
(Some vague Alien Covenant spoilers appear below. Because I had to ramble…)
