After finishing this book I found myself a bit torn on the rating. I liked a lot of it. Liked the ideas but I also felt very cold overall and I think it comes down to the main character in the end.

Skyward
By: Brandon Sanderson
Brandon Sanderson is one of those authors I’ve always wanted to read but at the same time I look at his books and go, “Man those are long.” So I’m happy to say Skyward (was long) but totally fun and fast and I will definitely be picking up more of his work.
Borne
By: Jeff Vandermeer
Grade: A
A giant flying and deadly bear called Mord. Rampaging biotech left over from the company that brought it all about. Radioactive rain and rivers. Half-buried astronauts. A magician… and it all gets somehow weirder when a scavenger called Rachel finds a strange creature living in Mord’s fur. She gathers him up. She takes him home.
And welcome to a newer creeper motherhood.
And also what it means to be a person. To be real. To be afraid. To be learning. To be out of control.
