Gotham City Harley Quinn Style

Harley Quinn Season 2

So it might have been a bit bumpier than season one and less laugh out loud funny but needless to say I still loved Harley Quinn season 2 over on the DC Universe App. I thought I’d do a list of my favorite parts and consequently what I think they should steal going forward for the live action movies!

If you’ve been here a while I’m sure you can guess my number 1 🙂

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes

By: Suzanne Collins

So I wasn’t necessarily bummed this book was about Snow when the news dropped but I did have a moment of hm, 500 plus pages about Snow… this could be a chore.

But surprisingly it wasn’t! I flew through this and it’s one of my favorite reads of the year. I’ve heard some people admit they were disappointed it wasn’t about _______ (insert fav) but when it comes down to it I think this was the perfect choice.

Dumb Movie Characters: A New Number One?

Kate Winslet as Marianne Dashwood

So I was watching Sense and Sensibility the other day remembering with ease how much I hate Marianne Dashwood.

Ugh. She’s seriously the worst of all Jane Austen’s women cause at least Lydia was young, trying to show up her sisters and didn’t have much of a role model in her mother. And sure I mean Marianne’a cardinal sin is even as a teenager I never would have turned my nose up at Alan Rickman I mean Colonel Brandon.

But I think she might be supplanted by an even dumber character and for once it’s not romantic choices that make me roll my eyes!

Rereading with Some Trepidation: The Stand

the stand

I’m about halfway through a re-read of The Stand. I read it for the first time when I was probably way too young and remember loving it. But I’m having some bumps on this reread.

Which you know it’s been decades people change you never read the same thing the same way no matter how much you might have loved it. But it does make me wonder- 1. Does knowing the fate of these characters change the reading experience?

2. Did I actually like the mini-series better and simply confuse that with the book?

And news about the upcoming remake makes me wonder about that version as well…

The Women of The Witcher

Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia

When The Witcher dropped on Netflix my biggest question was how were the female characters in the show going to fare…

As I’ve mentioned that other big fantasy adaptation- well I pretty much wound up despising every choice they made for the female characters especially. It’s still too early to really judge The Witcher after only 8 episodes but I think they’re off to an interesting start.

Amy, Cat & Sansa: My Favorite Unpopular Characters

Florence Pugh as Amy March

It was a surprise to me during the run-up to the recent movie when I heard Amy March was an unpopular/controversial character amongst Little Women fans. I thought why?

And then I was thinking you’re a card-carrying member of the Catelyn and Sansa Stark fan club (books anyway) and the three characters actually have a lot in common with each other that I think makes them unfairly divisive.
