Characters Traits I Get Heart Eyes Over…

woody and bo peep in toy story 4

Top Ten Tuesday today is Character Traits that Make You Love Them which sounded like the perfect chance to do an ode to the characters I love.

I was really going to go for it but had to control myself because while great hair and a killer beard might give me heart eyes it’s not really a trait.

Most apply to multiple characters obviously.

Things I’ll Never Say: Book Edition

Alice grabbing a book on her way to wonderland

Today’s Top 10 Tuesday is a Freebie so I put together a list of all the book related things I have never said or on the off chance I have I’ve said it to people who darned well knew I didn’t mean it!

Some Questionable Bookish Vacation Destinations…

all 3 dragoms

It’s been a while since I’ve done a Top Ten Tuesday but since I love the idea of book traveling I thought this weeks topic would be fun.

So 10 probably seriously questionable places mentioned in books that I’d like to visit.

10 Love (and Life) Lessons I Took from Books

Harley and Batman

*It’s possible that I’ve learned some of the wrong lessons from books. Regardless books always help me feel better in a pinch. This is inspired by Top Ten Tuesdays hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl. I am not all the big into Valentine’s Day or the most romantically inclined person overall but this is what came to mind!

10 Books I’m Hoping Santa Brings… Into Existence

Christmas Tree

This weeks Top 10 Tuesday prompt is Books I’m Hoping Santa Brings. I’m adapting it just a bit to Books I’m Hoping Santa Brings into Existence because otherwise Santa’s told me, “You have zero self-control with books how is any one supposed to know what you don’t have!”

So below are some books I hope the elves getting cracking on in no particular order:

(Featuring celebrities & impossible books!)

10 Characters Who Would Rule Social Media

top ten tuesday

I haven’t done one of The Broke and Bookish Top Ten Tuesdays in ages but I saw this prompt and thought it looked like fun. The prompt technically is Top 10 Characters Who Would Make Great Leaders but that can be interpreted and when I saw trendsetters my mind just went to 10 characters who would totally rule Instagram/social media.

A weird amount of mine would use it to keep tab on their enemies but anyway! Characters appear in no particular order below…

Top Ten Tuesday: 10 Facts About Me

10 Facts (Bookish or Otherwise) About Me

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly event hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

This weeks topic is slightly more personal than I usually get but here goes:

1. I took my last job because I could go to a bookstore on breaks.

2. I was once asked in a Barnes and Noble not to help the customers (I helped one person! Then the others approached me!) because I did not work there!

3. I don’t think I’ve ever left a book unfinished. Probably in large part due to my OCD but still.

4. These are the books I remember liking the most from my uncensored childhood reading days. When I told my mother that recently she responded, “Maybe we should have been more careful about what you read.” 🙂

I really want to reread them now.

5. I love chocolate. A lot.

6. I’m a dog and a cat person. As long as they don’t interrupt my reading!

7. I am very, very shy. And after many years of being so I do get a little tired of people pointing it out to me and then saying, “We’re going to have to do something about that.”

8. I want to get better at photographer. It’s always been a thing of mine but all I wind up thinking is, “I really should be reading right now.”

9. Favorite places I’ve been: Denmark & England but I freaking love Las Vegas!

10. I long to be a writer! Books. Articles. Songs. Plays. Shows. Anything… Everything… One day…

Favorites of 2016 (So Far…)

Top Ten Favorites of 2016

So far:

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

I realize a few of these might have been released last year but I read them in 2016 so hey, I’m counting it:

The City of Mirrors

Queen of Hearts

If I Was Your Girl

Rat Queens Volumes 1-3

(Although with this one I’d put volumes one and two in favorites and three somewhere decidedly down the list 🙂 )

This one was a lovely surprise how much I liked it and actually yeah, this is in my top three!

Leaving only:

Six of Crows

Wolf by Wolf

These two are definitely sitting on top my list of favorites. Beautifully written worlds, great characters and storylines with lots of depth and tension.

I was just thinking the other day how I’m getting so tired of series and how sometimes even when I enjoy the first book by the time the next one rolls around I feel like I’m over it or just not interested anymore.

Not these two. Sequels are coming this fall which I am eagerly awaiting!

I know that’s not ten but it’s definitely the best of the best on my list. But the second half of the year promises even more book goodies!

Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Plan to Read this Summer

10 Books I Plan to Read This Summer

I’m not really big on the summer season. In fact books are pretty much what I use to get through until the Fall so these aren’t particularly summer related but here are some things I would really like to read in the next couple of months:

Suicide Squad

This is the movie I’m probably most excited for this summer. I love both Harley Quinn and Margot Robbie so I want to be ready.

Rat Queens

This one seems like a lot of fun. I’ve heard good things about it and Marvel just pissed me off with their Captain America stunt so I’m going to take a little break from them for a while.

Matilda and Rebecca are, I grant you, two very different books but they’re both on my list of “classics” I wanted to read this year and they both seem good for summer months so that’s part of the plan!

I’ve stayed away from Sarah J. Maas books for fear of the hype factor but darned if I didn’t fall for it with these two and I’m going to be ordering them both right after I get paid 🙂

16096824 17927395

A Court of Thorns and Roses & A Court of Mist and Fury

(Think this might have something to do with a Court?) Anyway, everyone raves about these books- especially the second one- and I want to see why! I fall for the hype again. Speaking of there’s also Susan Dennard’s:

I’ve been sitting on this one since January and I’m intrigued by it’s promise of a strong female friendship. We shall see!

There are several other books on my summer list including; Furiously Happy, This Savage Song, My Lady Jane and of course Winds of Winter

Okay, that last ones a dream but a girl can hope right?

Top Ten Tuesday: Bookish Social Media Accounts

So Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish & this week is bookish accounts to follow on social media.

I attempted to narrow mine down to my very favorites and ones that I keep going back to again and again also I’m just not on a lot of social media. Hence instead of a top ten a top five!

In no particular order:

A Book Utopia

This is Sasha Alsberg’s Youtube channel and really one of my fun favorites. The girl has energy that I would pay for I swear. A lot of times on her stuff I have to try to get through the energy to what I might really like. But seriously her videos are just fun. She’s a bit younger than me but I’d certainly recommend her to younger readers or kids who want to see the fun you can have reading.

Feminist Fiction

I actually first found Rhiannon Thomas’ website when I was looking for good writing about Game of Thrones. It’s a great site for all kinds of things; television, movies, gaming. Obviously she’s looking at things from a certain angle but when she does put up book reviews they’re usual “issue” type books and I’ve always found that I’ve appreciated and enjoyed reading them.

I still have to get around to reading her two books but I totally have them on my list!

Kassidy Voinche

This is another Book Tube person and I admit at first I wasn’t as big into her videos but I really think she puts up more reviews them some of the videos I’ve seen (hauls are always fun and stuff but I really want to hear about the books.) I also think she’s a bit better than most for getting through the hype and being like, yeah, I didn’t enjoy this as much as everyone else.

Great Imaginations

I’ve played their Story Sprites board games before and overall this is just a really solid website. They have some good features but for the most part this is another one where I think they’re a bit better than most at not falling into the new release; I got it early and for free so of course I love it hype!

They also tend to review some “older” books or not very new releases that fell through the cracks for me.

Okay, last ones kind of a cheat…

Impression Blend

Marianna is a Youtuber who is really more a movie reviewer at this point. But if you look back through her channel she’s got a ton of great book reviews on there and (with the exception of her horror stuff) I feel like I’ve watched enough of her reviews to know that we have kind of the same taste.

More than a few books I’ve read in the last couple months came from her old videos (and she still does book hauls). And her movie reviews are pretty spot on as well.

So that is my list of the social media accounts I tend to check out more than others!
