Slice Harvester: A Memoir in Pizza
By: Colin Atrophy Hagendorf
So I finally read Slice Harvester for Non-Fic November. It’s been on my TBR since it came out so I was pretty proud of myself.
Though in all honest I have mixed feelings on the book. Only the pizza in New York stuff interests me- and it was impressive the way he could write about pizza. If you are also interested in the punk scene go for it. Otherwise I thought I’d build my perfect pizza via books.
It’s not that I didn’t overall enjoy this series while reading. It’s just that the big end in A Court of Wings and Ruin or War and Ruin, whatever, was such a cop-out! I’ve honestly liked it less the further I’ve gotten away from reading it.
Although I have to admit if Martin doesn’t finish I’m going to consider ASOIAF a burn as well.
I’m not that big into romance books but I did enjoy this one and all things considered since they were both so damned precious and adorable I occasionally wanted to vomit… we did get some nice and saucy scenes!
Carswell Thorne and his relationship with Cress were the perfect amount of cheesy for me.
Meat: Vegetarian Pepperoni. Which I mean except for the vegetarian part is seemingly a pizza classic and pizza is an all occasion kind of food. So a classic for all occasions…
Anne of Green Gables is a classic I read for the first time this year and absolutely loved it. I also imagine Anne would enjoy a pizza every now and again!
Other than the fact that he liked books I was never big on Lazlo or his and Sarai’s romance to be honest. But I adored Minya throughout the series and actually I can’t think of a supporting character in this book I didn’t like. I’d also so with The Raven Cycle for this answer.
Best Served Cold: I prefer my pizza cold actually. Like the next morning on the way out the door. It’s a very portable breakfast. So a good book to take on a commute…
The Humans by Matt Haig. It’s a great little read with a very uplifting message and not one that takes a while. I’d also add Nikita Gills poems and prose books Wild Embers and Fierce Fairytales. Both will put you in the mood to face the day!
A Nice Cold Drink: Pizza is like the only time I will have soda. Shirley Temples are my favorite drink with pizza (so edgy right?) So a character or characters I’d love to have a drink with…
There are several characters I’d have a drink with to be honest films and movies. But who wouldn’t enjoy a Shirley Temple with the over-sugared adult trapped in a child’s body psychopath known as Gert? After so long in Fairyland she’d also probably really enjoy a pizza.
