Book of the Month: March

FullSizeRender copy
I was going to skip this month & we see how that went!

Book of the Month is a super reasonable book subscription box where you can chose between five books every month. You get up to three for $9.99 (though one is included in the cost of the box) shipping is free and so long as you pick one of the monthly suggestions  you can go back and chose the other two from past months.

March choices included:

Exit West by Mohsin Hammed: This is about Nadia and Saeed who fall in love and have to leave their war torn homeland for a hopefully better future. This one did sound interesting but I’m a total mood reader and I just wasn’t feeling it this month. It will likely be one I pick up in the future.

The Stranger in the Woods by Michael Finkel: This one is actually a true story of a man who lived alone in a forest for nearly thirty-years.

30687200

All Grown Up by Jami Attenberg: This is described as like what does it mean to be an adult? What does family mean? You have a woman whose in her late thirties her people around her seem to be changing. Her brother and his wife are expecting their much longed for child. I really wasn’t feeling this one.

So because I can never just skip a month I wound up going with:

30199414

Marlena by Julie Buntin: Because I actually did have that friend who burned too brightly & was gone to soon so we’ll have to see what reading this one feels like.

Dead Letters by Caite Dolan-Leach: Recently deceased Zelda leaves a series of clues for her twin sister Ava to decipher. Deciper for what? That’s what I guess I’m going to find out. I wasn’t sold on this one but it just happened that around choosing time I saw it mentioned in a couple of magazines as one to check out.

Cover’s fairly creepy.

My last pick was to go back to a past month and grab The Wonder by Emma Donoghue: about a nurse who travels to Ireland to help a young girl whose stopped eating and is being considered a miracle. I do like Donoghue and I had been considering this one for a while.

So those are the March choices and my picks. I’m still working on reading the ones from February though!
