Well past it actually. But having put another year under my belt recently I saw this tag on A Book Olive and though it would be fun. And honestly it’s probably been 30 years since I’ve done a tag.
The original tag was created by Ink Not Blood.
As we head into not just a new year but a new decade I thought I’d do my top books of the decade.
It was supposed to be a list of 10 but wound up doubled. Some might be controversial picks but I enjoyed all of them for many different reasons. And I’ve found that even the controversial ones are still being talked about.
So the books that defined my decade:
In super exciting news Circe- which was one of my favorite reads in a very long time- got a straight-to-series order from HBO. I find the writers credits a bit of a mixed bag but the source material is so strong… oh, man I’m having de ja vu cause I am sure I said that before about another HBO series.
But what really matters is the casting…
It’s time for the Best Books of 2018 meaning… My Favorite Read of the Year and a few special Book Awards. Not all of these were published in 2018 but it’s the year I read them so that’s what we’re going with! I’m not going to go into to much detail though I’ll link to reviews but needless to say I would recommend them all!
So I tried to narrow down the book, film and television characters who would make both Santa’s lists this year. I was going to do more than the year but that would have taken me forever! Let’s do Naughty first cause that’s always more fun…
Since I judge books by covers I wanted to do all my favorite most beautiful, striking covers of 2018. I haven’t necessarily read these books and in some cases the insides weren’t as beautiful or striking but these are my top picks! Unfortunately I don’t own them all either so in some cases they aren’t done justice… Enjoy!
I am in a very list making mood these days. I did one for people who want to try Science-Fiction and then was working on movies got to Clueless (which is of course a timeless Emma retelling) and thought… Retellings. The Best Ones I’d Recommend for People who want to give them a go!
FYI while this is about books I’d still totally recommend Clueless and 10 Things I Hate About You (a Taming of the Shrew retelling.) Both classics of my youth!
Seeing as how Taylor Swift’s Reputation tour kicks off today I thought I’d do a recommendation list of books that go will with this particular album/era.
Some go well with the album overall. Some go well with certain songs on the album and others are just about women embracing their reputations but also writing their own stories and in some cases about how we only know so many people by their reputations or our ideas of them and never really know the whole true person.
Every time Spring rolls around I decide I’ve somehow developed a green thumb and surround myself with flowers and succulents and things that grow. This April was really no different. I’m finishing off my herb garden (which is really just a shelf) but hoping for the best with keeping them alive!
