So I decided to reread this solely because of the translation- apparently the first in English by a woman. Also because I was in a serious Black Sails mood and had sea-faring pirate vibes going.

Having read a messy, broken hard to follow translation in college (or high school? I just remember being annoyed) I thought I’d give this a go. It’s a great translation but man I still hate Odysseus and his son!

In super exciting news Circe- which was one of my favorite reads in a very long time- got a straight-to-series order from HBO. I find the writers credits a bit of a mixed bag but the source material is so strong… oh, man I’m having de ja vu cause I am sure I said that before about another HBO series.

But what really matters is the casting…

I am in a very list making mood these days. I did one for people who want to try Science-Fiction and then was working on movies got to Clueless (which is of course a timeless Emma retelling) and thought… Retellings. The Best Ones I’d Recommend for People who want to give them a go!

FYI while this is about books I’d still totally recommend Clueless and 10 Things I Hate About You (a Taming of the Shrew retelling.) Both classics of my youth!

Book Recs for the Reputation Era!

Taylor Swift burning money

Seeing as how Taylor Swift’s Reputation tour kicks off today I thought I’d do a recommendation list of books that go will with this particular album/era.

Some go well with the album overall. Some go well with certain songs on the album and others are just about women embracing their reputations but also writing their own stories and in some cases about how we only know so many people by their reputations or our ideas of them and never really know the whole true person.
